Sitting at my desk. shaking started to occur in the room and the apartment . With a low deep rubble, the intensity grew until pictures started to fall from the walls and the lights were swaying largely. The intensity decreased for a moment before it grew stronger and then faded total length of time elapsed I’d estimate at 15/20 seconds from onset to no severe movement. My location is approximately 70 meters above seal level and a few kilometres from the coast at Rhodes city.

It really did take me some time to decide that I was in fact experiencing an earthquake because I was using the milk steaming feature on my espresso machine and things can get pretty wild. I’ve become somewhat inured to turbulence in my kitchen because of my persistently violent presence. The whole foundation was swaying and my water jug turned into a wave pool. I thought maybe I should run outside and flail my arms just in case it picks up speed. Somehow it felt instinctually safer to be in a predictable environment of falling debris instead of in my mysterious apartment of lurking opportunities. I ultimately did nothing and continued my life as is
